Effective November 4, 2026. By using staypermits.com you accept these terms. They are short on purpose.
StayPermits publishes plain-language summaries of short-term rental permit and lodging tax rules, prepared from city ordinances and tax authority publications, and provides a free checker that turns the answers you give it into a general list of the registrations, renewals, and filings that a portfolio like yours typically owes.
StayPermits is not a law firm, an accounting firm, or a tax preparation service, and nothing on this site is legal advice, tax advice, or a filing. The guides and the checker give general information only. They are not a substitute for the ordinance itself, for the tax authority's own instructions, or for advice about your specific properties from a qualified lawyer or tax professional. Your permit and tax obligations stay yours, and they are not transferred to us by using this site.
We work from primary sources and date every guide with its last review. Rules, fees, and deadlines change, sometimes with little notice, and summaries can compress a rule in a way that misses an exception that applies to you. Always confirm a fee, a deadline, or a requirement with the issuing authority before relying on it. If you find an error, tell us at contact@staypermits.com and we will check it against the source and correct the page.
The checker counts filings and fees using the same published rules as the guides and the estimates stated on the page. Its output is a planning aid, not a determination of what you owe. Filing frequency, fee amounts, and duties can differ for a specific property, owner, or account.
If you leave an email address, you agree to receive the messages described next to the form and in our privacy policy: your due list, updates when rules change, and one message if a done-for-you service opens in your city. You can unsubscribe at any time from any message. There is no charge and no account.
Do not use this site to break the law, do not attempt to disrupt or overload it, and do not scrape it at a volume that interferes with other visitors. Short quotations with a link back are welcome; wholesale copying of the guides is not.
The text, layout, and checker on this site belong to StayPermits. The underlying ordinances and government publications belong to their issuers and are summarised here for convenience.
The site is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, StayPermits and its owner are not liable for penalties, fines, lost listings, or other losses arising from reliance on a guide or a checker result, and any liability that cannot be excluded is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in question, which for the site and the checker is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
We may update these terms; the effective date above will change when we do, and continued use after a change means acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
